Biometrics Ban
Biometric monitoring is both invasive and biased, adversely affecting people of color. The Biometrics Ban prohibits government use of biometric surveillance, such as facial recognition. Facial recognition software is biased, broken, and antithetical to a democratic society. It is up to 100 more likely to misidentify women of color than white men. Numerous people, disproportionately Black, have been wrongly arrested after being misidentified through facial recognition. Biometric surveillance is is also highly deployment in low-income and publicly-financed housing developments.
